Footstep Sounds

Do you like these crunchy footstep sounds? my husband asks me as we walk through Rockefeller State Preserve at dusk.

Footstep Sounds at Rockefeller State Preserve

He knows me well.

While we listen, there is so much to see:

This still reflection of the trees in the lake.

The berries that my husband is threatening to eat. Don’t eat the wild berries! I plead. He acquiesces.

This lone red flower in the patch of purply succulents. I kneel down to see if it has been dropped there, but when I tug gently on its stem, I discover it is rooted.

All while listening to our crunchy, crackly footstep sounds as we make our way through a small slice of the park for our after-dinner stroll.
