Dinner in a Concrete Parking Lot

On a recent joyous occasion, my husband and I celebrated by having dinner in a concrete parking lot. We placed our order on the app, collected our bag, and set up the metal table for our feast of grocery store sandwiches and diet coke.

We have looked forward to weekend parking lot sandwiches ever since we deemed the grocery store somewhat safe again, post-vaccine, some time in late May. While we eat and chat, I watch the parking lot, people entering and exiting their cars, packing the bags in the trunk, coming and going about their day.

Celebratory dinners once marked by fancy attire, cloth napkins, and a hefty check are now simple meals with old clothes, alcohol wipes, and better acoustics. Just as delicious.
